Hastings is a staple of Wichita Falls, which is why many were shocked by the news of the corporation filing for bankruptcy on June 13th.
The plan, at the time, was to complete the sale process by July 13th. However on July 6th, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware approved Hastings desired sale procedures.
They released a statement confirming the new deadline to complete the sale on July 18th and the auction has been moved to July 20th.
In the statement, Hastings said the new deadline will afford interested buyers more time to come forward with offers they hope will unlock the full, future value of their assets.
Officials with Hastings in Wichita Falls said July 13th is the last day to use all gift cards and that they are no longer buying used products until further notice. The corporation stresses they will remain open for business and look forward to seeing customers in their stores and online.
Newschannel 6 spoke with a local author from Wichita Falls who said they have pulled their books from the shelves and it is just a waiting game until the sale process is complete.
Hastings in Wichita Falls recently hosted book signings for Texas Governor Greg Abbot and former presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson.
