Officers responded to a call just before 10:00 pm in the 1400 block of Covington where David Mendoza was arrested for aggravated assault.
The victim, Aaron Muschamp, said his wife told him that Mendoza had been looking through their window with a flash light. So, the victim went next door to ask Mendoza about it and the victim said Mendoza had a crazy look in his eyes.
(Police later discovered text messages sent by Mendoza to others saying they could burglarize the man’s house because he wasn’t home.)
Muschamp pulled his cell phone out of his pocket and Mendoza tried to grab him around the neck.
The victim “took off running” and Mendoza chased him. The victim said he knew Mendoza had something in his hand but didnt know what it was.
When Mendoza caught up to the victim, Muschamp, kicked Mendoza and punched him several times in the face.
The fight was caught on the victim’s home security/surveillance system. In the video police confirmed that Mendoza had been chasing Muschamp with a knife. The victim did find a large kitchen knife in the yard and on the video it shows Mendoza pointing the knife at victim. Muschamp discovered a cut on his arm.
Mendoza was taken to the hospital.
