Miranda Lambert’s newly released video for “Vice” runs heavily on vehicular imagery – the opening shot is an overturned car in the middle of a dusty lane, looking like a rural analog of the Weeknd’s nightmarish clip for “The Hills.” Directed by Trey Fanjoy, the video was filmed in the town of Smithville, in Lambert’s home state of Texas.

As the drums kick in, Lambert snaps awake and crawls from the wreckage – presumably a metaphor for her messy personal life – with nary a hair out of place. Following the dusty road to a sleepy little town, she shoots whiskey and flirts with her bartender, disappearing as quickly as she came. By the end of the clip, she’s back on the road and looking lost when a car approaches. Spoiler alert: no one’s driving, and she climbs in the back seat without hesitation.

Written by Lambert with Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne, “Vice” is the first single from her forthcoming sixth studio album and first release since her divorce from fellow star Blake Shelton. Lambert was recently presented with the inaugural ACM Merle Haggard Spirt Award – a topic of heated discussion – and will take her Keeper of the Flame tour with guests Brothers Osborne and Kip More to Orange Beach, Alabama on September 8th.
