As Zac Brown Band’s debut album, 2008’s The Foundation, hits the incredible sales certification of five-times platinum, the group is announcing a return “straight back to our roots, Foundation-style,” as frontman Zac Brown puts it.

The band posted a video on Twitter revealing they’ll hit the studio this winter to make a new album reminiscent of their old sound. It will be the followup to their country-tinged but rock-leaning LP,Jeckyll + Hyde, which was just certified platinum and yielded the iHeartRadio Music Awards’ Rock Song of the Year winner, “Heavy Is the Head,” featuring Chris Cornell.

Zac Brown Band’s boomerang move for their next album quiets a lot of rumors that they were plotting a permanent move over to the rock and/or dance-pop world. But this is a renowned jam band known for experimentation, so fans can still expect the unexpected.

ZBB wrap their Black Out the Sun tour next weekend after a show in Tampa. The last gig on their 2016 calendar is an October 15th benefit show at Brown’s own Southern Ground Amphitheater in Fayetteville, Georgia. Proceeds will go to the musician’s Camp Southern Ground, a place that nurtures learning, growth — and fun — for children, with special services for kids suffering from neuro-developmental disorders.
