Garth Brooks Pens SEC Football Anthem ‘Pure Adrenaline’

garthGarth Brooks will be the SEC’s opening act for games broadcast on CBS this college football season. His new song, “Pure Adrenaline” was written specifically for the conference — with its lyrics tweaked for each “SEC Game of the Week.”

The anthemic country-rocker will be featured before each game in original videos, which are being filmed in Nashville this week. Brooks promises fans a different video every Saturday. The country superstar took a short break from filming to give fans a sneak peek via his “Inside Studio G” web series this afternoon.

“It’s all going to be done very fast paced, intercut with football footage — which is what we’re all tuning in to see anyway,” he said from the studio in a Facebook Live stream.

Co-written by Brooks and Gordon Kennedy, “Pure Adrenaline” will also be featured on the country icon’s new album of original material, due to be released this fall. “It’s very much reflective of the live show,” he says of the tune, inspired by his current, colossal world tour with his better half, Trisha Yearwood. “When you go out on the road — it’s the first time we’ve been on the road for 14 years — all of a sudden that live road affects your recordings. When everyone says this album is going to be ‘the most Garth thing ever,’ trust me, it’s also gonna be the most live thing we’ve ever done.”

The SEC on CBS kicks off Saturday, September 3rd at 3:30 p.m. ET with Texas A&M hosting UCLA. Brooks will be watching, as will his Georgia Bulldog-loving wife. “I’m an Oklahoma State-r. I bleed orange,” says Brooks of his Big 12 favorite. “But I feel lucky to be a part of the SEC. We’ll be seeing the greatest games in the greatest conference.”
